Area business spreads holiday cheer! Employees at Athene worked together to ensure many families were taken care of with gifts this holiday season. Athene coordinated with Brubaker Elementary and provided clothing items and toys for 122 students in Des Moines. Many thanks to Athene!
Just in time for Thanksgiving, our elementary students are learning about cranberries! Brubaker Elementary students tried cranberries tart, fresh and dried. Pick a Better Snack educators say all forms count when it comes to fruits and vegetables!
Brubaker’s annual Canned Food Drive will be from November 17 – 21. Students may bring non-perishable food items to be donated to the Food Bank of Iowa. Please help Brubaker in the pursuit to fight against hunger in Iowa.
Brubaker will be hosting a literacy and math event for families. Families are welcome to come to school and be a part of activities in the classroom on November 25th. Kindergarten, First, and Second grades will be hosting from 1:00-2:00 pm. Grades 3, 4, and 5 will host from 2:15-3:15 pm. Please RSVP by November 21st. We look forward to seeing you on the 25th!
Sen. Tom Harkin visited Brubaker on Wednesday to have a snack with students and talk to 3rd graders about the importance of eating fruits and vegetables. Sen. Des Moines Parks and Recreation and Des Moines Public Schools are partnering to offer a youth basketball league for the 2014-2015 season. The program is for students in grades 1st through 7th. The registration deadline is October 17 and fees are $50 per student or $450 per team. Click the image to learn more and register to play.
