Biography

Hi, my name is Tami Boehler. This is my 10th year teaching. I have taught 5th, 4th and 2nd grades. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Upper Iowa University and a Master of Arts degree from Viterbo University. I am married and have two sons. Much of my free time is spent watching my sons at sporting events. I am very excited join the staff at Brubaker this year and can't wait to get to know the families.

Hello! My name is Kori Cooper and I am a special education teacher at Brubaker. I have been teaching special education in the Des Moines Public School District since 2001. Prior to moving to Des Moines, I taught for 10 years in Winnebago, Nebraska. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from Morningside College.

Hi! My name is Ali Eull and I am a second grade special education teacher at Brubaker Elementary. I graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Special Education. I student taught last spring in Des Moines and am so happy to be back for my first year of teaching! I am so incredibly excited to meet your child! I know we will have a great year together. Biography

I grew up on the East side of Des Moines attending McKee and Hoyt. I am so glad to back in my old neighborhood. I have been teaching in Des Moines for the last 19 years with 17 of those years being in 2nd grade. I am married and have two young children just starting school so I am beginning to look at by job a lot different now that I can see from a parent's perspective. Welcome to Room 200! I have been teaching at Brubaker since it opened in 2003. Initially I started as a first grade teacher then moved to second grade a few years ago. I received my undergraduate degree at Drake University and recently graduated from Viterbo University with my master’s in education. I have a passion for teaching math, children’s literature, and all things Dr. Seuss!

Heidi Lucs

Hi, my name is Heidi Lucs and I teach second grade at Brubaker Elementary. I have been teaching in Des Moines for over 20 years. I have also taught Kindergarten and First Grade at Moulton, King, Wright, and Douglas schools. I graduated from Iowa State University. I am looking forward to an awesome year in our second grade class!

Biography

I am grateful to be teaching all the wonderful students here at Brubaker Elementary! I graduated from Upper Iowa University in 2006 with my Bachelor of Art degree in Elementary Education. In 2011, I graduated from Viterbo with my masters in Education.

This is currently my 11th year of teaching. I taught eight years of second grade and this is my 3rd year of fifth grade. My philosophy in my teaching is to encourage every student to reach their highest potential while providing a safe, engaging environment.

Hello! My name is Nicole Stuhldryer, and this is my first year at Brubaker Elementary.  I will be working with 2nd and 3rd grade special education.  I just graduated from Simpson College this past May with my degree in Elementary Education and endorsements in special education, early childhood, and reading. I student taught in Des Moines this past spring, and I am so lucky to have gotten my first job with the district. Go Bulldogs!

Welcome to Brubaker Elementary!  My name is Brandi VanHorn and I am a second grade classroom teacher.

This school year will be filled with educational and fun experiences. I am dedicated to doing everything I can to make second grade a success for all my students. It is exciting to work with the children and the Brubaker staff, supporting their future and journey to be lifelong learners.

I have been teaching elementary students for over ten years. My three children all attended Brubaker and I am happy that I have the opportunity to be on this school’s staff. My bachelor's degree is from Upper Iowa University and my journey of learning continues as I pursue my higher education goals through Buena Vista University.
