Hello everyone! My name is Sarah Bengtson. This is my fifth year of teaching and I love being a part of the Brubaker family! I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education, and recently graduated from Viterbo University with a Masters in Educational Leadership. I am looking forward to continue serving the amazing students and families at Brubaker. Go Bulldogs!
Hello! My name is Kori Cooper and I am a special education teacher at Brubaker. I have been teaching special education in the Des Moines Public School District since 2001. Prior to moving to Des Moines, I taught for 10 years in Winnebago, Nebraska. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from Morningside College.
Hi! My name is Jane Grace. I teach 4th grade here at Brubaker. I graduated from Grandview University and have taught in the Des Moines Public Schools since 1994. I have previously taught kindergarten, second grade, and reading and math support. I am married and have 3 children and 1 dog. I love to travel, take my dog on a walk, and read!

Hello! My name is Kelly Jo Hotchkiss and I am a K-5 Interventionist teacher at Brubaker. I have been teaching in the DMPS system since 1990. I am a product of the DMPS. Growing up, I attended Madison Elementary, Harding Junior High and North High schools. I then went on to Grand View College and earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I later earned my Masters degree from Viterbo University. I taught 3rd grade for 25 years before making the change to the Interventionist role.
My first teaching position was at McKee. When McKee and Douglas merged and became Brubaker, I moved over to Brubaker. I love teaching on the Eastside! I am now teaching children of students I had early in my teaching career. I am living my dream of being an Educator! There is nothing more rewarding!
I am married to Carl Hotchkiss. We have a Pomeranian named Cody Joe (CJ). He keeps us very busy with walks, playing with his toys and daily brushings. He is the child we never had!
Welcome to fourth grade! My name is Mrs. Leeper, and I have been teaching with Des Moines Public Schools since 2001. As a child I attended DMPS, and I graduated from East High School. After high school I attended Grand View University where I majored in Elementary Education. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes, barbequing, running, biking, and shopping!

Welcome to Room 120! My name is Mrs. McNeeley. I have been teaching since 1999. I am an East High graduate! I graduated from Grand View in 1999. I received my Master’s Degree in Education in 2008. I have been teaching 1st grade since 2009. In my free time I enjoy running, riding bikes, and spending time with my family.
Welcome to 4th Grade! I have had the opportunity to call Brubaker my home since the fall of 2007. I grew up in Lisbon, IA a small town on the eastern side of the state (GO HAWKS!). I attended Coe College where I completed my undergrad coursework, receiving a BA in Elementary Education, as well as endorsements in Reading and Coaching. I completed my Master of Arts in Education from Viterbo University. Keep calm, and let Bulldogs lead the way!
Hello! My name is Nicole Stuhldryer, and this is my third year at Brubaker Elementary. I will be working with 3rd and 4th grade special education. I graduated from Simpson College in 2016 with my degree in Elementary Education and endorsements in special education, early childhood, and reading. I love the Brubaker community & am so happy to be apart of it! Go Bulldogs!
